Trisha Rich asked:

If your not passionate about your topic or niche, you are not going to stick to it. The better way to determine what niche to go on is to ask your self, “Whould I do this for free?” If the answer is YES, then have found your niche. People who do blogging business online only for money rarely succeed.

If you do not find a niche market for the product or service you offer, you will have a hard time being successful. Most beginners who wish to do business on the World Wide Web frequently market to everybody they can find with the anticipation that everybody will do business with them. This is the same as throwing mud versus the wall and hoping a few of it will stick. They have’nt yet found their niche market.

What is niche?

A niche is compiled of individuals and businesses that have alike interests and demands, which can be identified and that can be easily aimed.

Knowing your niche for your business means looking a great product or service for a highly targeted audience.

Here are some simple tips in finding your niche business:

Find a niche product you are love about.

This will greatly increase your fortunes of being successful. Because it’s the only way you’re enduring to be able to commit the kind of time and effort to create a meaningful online business, increase the right traffic, generate worthwhile revenue, and enjoy what you are doing.

Choose a niche product you are intimate with.

Think over on what skills, hobbies or products you know the most about. If you don not have the idea yet, then pick out a niche product that you would love to promote, and so spend the essential time to research it, so you are able to become an expert in your marketing field.

Define your niche market

By doing the essential research to check if there is a market available online for your niche product. To create a fruitful business for your niche product, you need to thingk first yourself these questions:

Is there enought demand for it? - If you choose a niche that is too broad it may be hard to excel from the competition. For instance, Computer could be your niche product. Well, unless you are a large corporation such as DELL or Macintosh, believe me you will not excel from the crowd. Nevertheless, a more highly targeted niche product could be MacBook Air.

Do some Keyword research. Use keyword tools such as the overture I suggestion “keyword suggestion tool” tool http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/ to find some figures and status on how a lot of people are searching every month on keywords related to your niche product.

Check here On How to Do some keyword research for your niche.

According to word tracker, the keyword “computer” was searched 10,418 searches in one month. If you do Google for computer you will find 1,250,000,000 web sites show up. Base on this data computer keyword is too competitive.

However “MacBook Air” results 1528 searches in one month according to wordtracker. Google.com shows 21,700,000 competing websites. This is much better although still somewhat competitive.

If you notice there are not to many competitor web sites even the authority ones, that have “MacBook Air” in their titles. This is just one of the factors to get a high ranking on the search engines for your newly targeted online business. This will then drive more targeted traffic to your site.

cheap macbooks

Titus Hoskins asked:

Copyright (c) 2008 Titus Hoskins

For a great gaming laptop you need high performance processors, dedicated graphics cards and a lot of system memory. These days top gaming laptops are using dual or even quad processors and hooking up two or more graphics GPUs thru SLI configurations to get the ultimate gaming performance.

Most gamers look for Nvidia and ATI as their choice of Graphics Cards which uses dedicated memory (RAM) and pulls additional system RAM when needed thru HyperMemory (ATI) or Turbocache (Nvidia). You need at least 2 Gigs of RAM, although most high end laptops now come with 4 or more Gigs of RAM. Note: 32-bit Operating Systems ONLY recognizes up to 3GB of RAM, while you need 64-bit systems to take full advantage of 4GB of RAM.

Sound and visuals are very important to gamers so you have to check for superior display qualities and top sound systems. So look for display technologies like CrystalBrite (Acer) or X-Black (Sony) for better viewing. Also look for high resolution (native 1,920 x 1,200) screens, 64 bit systems, DirectX 10 Graphics, Blu-ray or HD playback…

With all these considerations in mind, here’s a short list of a few top gaming laptops you should consider if you’re in the market. Keep in mind, although prices are coming down, be prepared to pay top dollar for all that high-end gaming hardware, especially if you’re looking at the more popular well-known brands. Also please note stated prices are rough estimates at the time of writing; so check each manufacturer’s online site for exact prices and configurations.

1. Alienware Area-51 m17x ($4,749)

Alienware has always been the established leader for superior gaming machines. Unfortunately, while they make some of the best gaming rigs, you will have to pay for all that performance and for all that style. Many believe Alienware is too overpriced for what you get. However, if money is no object, Alienware should be your first consideration for a gaming laptop.

Currently, one of their fastest machines is the Area-51 m17x which sports some impressive specs:

CPU: Intel® Core® 2 Extreme X9000 2.8GHz (6MB Cache 800MHz FSB)

Memory: 4GB? Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHz - 2 x 2048MB

Hard Drive: 250GB (250GB x 2) 7,200RPM (8MB Cache) w/ Free Fall Protection

Graphics: 512MB NVIDIA® Quadro® FX 3600M

OS: Microsoft® Windows® Vista® Ultimate with Service Pack 1 Display: 17″ WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 LCD (1200p) with Clearview Technology Weight: 10.5 lbs

But don’t expect long battery life as gaming laptops are usually power-hungry creatures that burn up your power source very quickly. While still mobile, this laptop serves more as a desktop replacement than a portable laptop, same said for most of the gaming laptops here. However, you won’t look any cooler than when you’re lugging this rig around, not that looks should count but they often do. Shallow world.

2. Rock Xtreme 780 X9100 (£2300 British Pounds or $4,210 USD)

Offering some serious competition to the Area-51 m15x is the Rock Xtreme 780 X9100. This is the follow-up to the very high ranked Xtreme 770 which you may also consider. The 780 sports the new Intel® Core2 Extreme processor and the latest gaming technologies.

CPU: Up to Intel® Core® 2 Extreme processor X9100 (2 x 3.06GHz) 6MB Level 2 Cache

Memory: Up to 4GB DDR3 1066Mhz RAM

Hard Drive: Up to 320Gb 7200rpm SATA

Graphics: NVIDIA 9800M GTX 1GB GDR3

OS: Microsoft® Windows® Vista® Home Premium

Display: 17″ WUXGA+ X-Glass TFT Screen (1920 x 1200) Weight: 8.4 lbs

You should know Rock (Rockdirect) is a leading UK laptop manufacturer and was recently acquired by the Stone Group. It should be business as usual since the Stone Group is also a leading hardware specialist and laptop manufacturer. Rock has a solid reputation for bringing the latest innovative notebook technology to customers. Perhaps better suited for European buyers with its “3 Year pan-European Collect & Return Warranty” - although gamers this side of the pond shouldn’t necessarily rule out getting a rock.

3. Gateway P-7811FX ($1,449)

The Gateway P-7811FX is an inexpensive alternative to all the pricey gaming laptops you might be considering. If you’re looking for a good gaming machine, yet want to stay within a limited budget, this laptop may have your name on it.

CPU: 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8400

Memory: 4GB, 667MHz DDR3

Hard Drive: 200GB 7200rpm

Graphics: Nvidia GeForce 9800M GTS

OS: Microsoft® Windows® Vista® Premium (64-bit) Display: 17.1 inches HD-friendly 1920×1200. Weight: 9.0 lbs

This gaming laptop offers great value for your money and well worth your consideration, especially if you’re on a tight budget.

4. Sager NP9262 ($5879)

In case you want to go in the other direction and break the bank, the Sager NP9262 maybe calling your name. Built on the Clevo D900C / D901C (Worlds 1st Quad Core Laptop) the NP9262 sports some very impressive gaming specs.

CPU: Intel® Core® 2 Quad Processor Q9650 / 12MB L2 Cache, 3.0GHz, 1333MHz FSB

Memory: 8GB memory available on NP9262 with 64bit edition of Windows VISTA

Hard Drive: 320GB 7200rpm SATA 300 Hard Drive + other HD choices

Graphics: Dual Nvidia GeForce 9800M GTX Graphics with 1GB DDR3 Video Memory in SLI mode

OS: Windows® Vista® ULTIMATE 32/64-Bit Edition Display: 17″ Wide Viewing Angles WUXGA LCD with Super Glossy Surface (1920 x 1200) Weight: 11.55 lb

5. Dell XPS M1730 ($4,000)

Some gamers wouldn’t be caught dead mentioning Dell and gaming laptops in the same breath. There’s no accounting for gaming snobbery or brand name bias. However, Dell which now owns Alienware and some of that style must be rubbing off since the XPS M1730 is one of the most striking gaming laptops you can buy; looks do count and this one leaves all takers in the dust. If you can get over the idea of having a Dell in the first place, the XPS M1730 also sports some very impressive gaming specs.

CPU: 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme X7900

Memory: 2GB of 667MHz

Hard Drive: 400GB (2×200) at 7,200rpm

Graphics: Dual 256MB Nvidia GeForce 8700M GT in SLI (scalable link interface)

OS: Windows Vista® Home Premium Display: 17 inches 1,920×1,200 resolution Weight: 11.1 lbs

These are just some of the top gaming laptops on the market. Any one of these rigs will give you half decent gaming. There are probably a lot more cheaper gaming laptops out there and it does pay to shop around. And as you probably already noticed these gaming rigs are geared around Intel and Nvidia, but you shouldn’t rule out AMD and/or ATI based systems. For Mac lovers, you should look at the Apple MacBook Pro - and remember you can also run Windows to play games!

Furthermore, one of the major drawbacks of going with any gaming laptop (rather than a PC) is that there is very little room for expansion… you need a system that can be easily upgraded mainly because by the time you buy it, your system will probably be out of date. That’s a bit exaggerated, but it is always a good idea to go with a gaming system that you can easily upgrade when the need arises or as you can afford it.

Also some gamers dislike Vista as an Operating System for gaming and quickly switch back to Windows XP. This is simply done, however some current laptops/PCs won’t accept XP so check this out BEFORE you buy your machine.

In addition, if some of these gaming rigs look very similar, you should know that Clevo is the ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) based in Taiwan that sells barebones and computer components to all these boutique brand OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) like Falcon, Sager, M-TECH, Rock… Clevo is considered by many gamers to produce the top laptops in regards to superior quality and build. A prudent gaming laptop buyer would always cross-reference these Clevo products in order to find the best deal.

new mac book

atomxiao asked:

The new Enterprise Desktop Alliance will promote use of Macintosh desktops in managed Windows environments.

A group of five vendors has formed an alliance to help push Macintosh desktops into managed Windows environments on corporate networks.

The efforts of the Enterprise Desktop Alliance (EDA) — which was formed last week by Atempo, Centrify, Group Logic, LANrev and Parallels — are not about displacing Windows but raising awareness that the Macintosh is a viable alternative because it can be managed using integration tools and existing Windows infrastructure.

Many IT issues with the Macintosh in the past had to do with networking and management.

The vendors, which are hoping to add some user members, develop tools that help companies deploy, integrate and manage Macintoshes using Windows-based infrastructure.

The evolution of the Macintosh platform over the past few years, including a shift to the Intel architecture, has brought it into closer alignment with the needs of enterprise computing even though Apple largely ignores the corporate market.

Surveys of Macintosh penetration in the enterprise typically peg market share around 4% to 8%. In October of last year, IDC reported that the Macintosh’s share of the PC shipment market was up to 6.9%. Also, the rise in laptop use, the popularity of Macintosh-based notebooks, and devices like the iPhone are helping fuel both back-door raids and front-office assaults by the Macintosh.

“Sometimes it happens top down,” says Peter Frankle, COO of LANrev. “We have one customer where the top four C-level executives ended up getting iPhones in an all Windows infrastructure. They liked them so much they got MacBook Pros and then suddenly IT was charged with supporting its four most important clients using MacBooks.”

Technologies like virtualization and Apple’s BootCamp, which both let Windows and Windows-based applications run on the Macintosh, also are blurring the lines between an either/or choice for IT. Also, migration costs and hardware overhauls associated with Microsoft’s Vista are leading corporate IT to explore all its options.

Now the EDA is saying infrastructure to support the Macintosh platform should not be an issue because for Windows shops it is already there.

EDA members develop software that hits a number of integration points between Windows and Macintosh with Atempo providing data protection, Centrify identity and access management, Group Logic file and print services, LANrev systems lifecycle management and Parallels virtualization.

Frankle says IT can achieve the same level of configuration management, disaster recovery, security and policy compliance on Macintoshes that they have with Windows and the Windows infrastructure. For example, Active Directory can be used to control access privileges and create audit trails for Macintosh desktops.

EDA plans to host a series of Webcasts and seminars to prove their points, and will publish white papers, product information and other resources on its Web site.

Frankle says Phase 2 of development of EDA will include the addition of user members, and a Phase 3 could include expansion beyond the management focus.

refurbished macbooks

Paul E Steinberg asked:

You can help the environment by making one simple decision. By going green with your computers. This is done by choosing notebooks computers that are environmentally friendly and long on charge. New “green laptops” take the idea of an environmentally friendly notebook computer even further. They are smaller than other notebooks, last longer on a charge, and comply with most environmental regulations. These ultraportble, small footprint, lighter weight notebooks are inherently “greener” than heavier, larger footprint products for a few reasons: They are designed to deliver the desired performance while consuming fewer materials for manufacturing and less energy for shipment and distribution. Packaging requirements are also reduced, saving materials and energy. Laptops don’t use as much power as a desktop, mostly because the processor is only drawing about 35W or less, compared to about 65W or more for a desktop CPU. The added benefit is that your electrical bill won’t be as high either.

Less Hazardous Components

Although notebooks are typically much more energy efficient than desktops. They are, however, no greener than desktops in other regards. They typically contain the same hazardous components, and they are not easily recycled. However, a few “greener” notebook computers are now on the market.

Lenovo’s Thinkpad X300 is the company’s first EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) Gold certified notebook. Only 15 notebooks have achieved this rating to date. The X300 uses mercury free LEDs to illuminate its display. This saves energy, and allows for a thinner display. It uses a solid state drive, which is much lighter, more reliable and faster than a conventional hard drive. It also contains a low voltage processor and has improved “battery stretch” software for energy savings. It meets the Energy Star 4.0 criteria and is 25% more efficient than Lenovo’s previous generation notebooks. The packaging materials for the X300 are 90% recyclable, and the use of toxic materials such as cadmium, lead, and arsenic have been reduced.

The MacBook Air is one of Apple’s greenest computers. The Air’s display was the first from Apple to be mercury and arsenic free. The all aluminum case was also a good choice as aluminum is easily recyclable and highly desirable by recyclers. The Air qualified for a Silver EPEAT rating (all the circuit boards are bromide and PVC free). It’s also Energy Star 4.0 certified. On PC Magazine’s energy consumption tests, the 14 Watts it produced while idle is consistent with Energy Star’s 14 Watt (and under) requirement. The reading was taken while the system was running Leopard after 15 minutes of idle time. You can get the Macbook Air fitted with a 64GB solid state drive, which will further reduces its power requirements. Apple paid attention to the retail packaging of this machine, and reduced it by 50%.

Green Computing Is Here To Stay

Any way you slice it, green computing is here to stay. Laptops will get more efficient, smaller, and safer for the planet. EPA estimates that in the next five years purchases of EPEAT registered computers could reduce hazardous waste by 4 million pounds and save enough energy to power two million homes.

cheap macbook

MacBook randomly shutting down.

The problem started at the end of July. The computer started randomly shutting off by itself for no apparent reason. I documented the problem on video in case, for some reason, the problem was not detected at the store; unfortunately, this was the case. On the Apple discussion forum (http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=218), I discovered that there were many users with the same problem, even after the problem was repaired once (and more than once, in some cases).

Of lately, I got my computer back from the lab where they were looking at it; however, nothing was done because they couldn’t find anything wrong with it and explained verbatim that “it’s common, because new machines have to settle down.” Even after they saw the video, I couldn’t believe the men really thought this ridiculous problem could be solved by working itself out. To make matters worse, it seems that Apple doesn’t know who to contact in regards to this problem. I was directed to AppleCare from the official Apple Store I bought it from just to be told that the problem had to be dealt with at the store. To makes matters worse, the store then argued that the problem was fixed, and I should be patient while the computer worked itself out, again!

August 29th
Today my MacBook came in, just back from the repair centre. I went in and I asked to test it out just to be sure it worked properly, but a few seconds after they turned it on… it shut down! The guy was embarrassed and tried replacing RAM, it kept shutting off. He told me he was sorry but he couldn’t do other than sending it back to the lab to get fixed again. I said no, because it had just come back from the lab (and clearly wasn’t fixed). I asked for a new unit and he said he couldn’t give me one, so I asked for a refund and he couldn’t do that either. We argued for two hours before he finally said I could have it replaced with a new model, and I got an iBook until it comes in. It took two hours to convince them of all of this.
A funny note, while I was there a guy at the store in line behind me said that his MacBook was shutting off by itself too, and that he had other problems like the ones reported at the Apple discussion forums (vertical lines at boot up, discoloration of the plastic around the keyboard, etc).

cheap macbooks
